Last Friday, a few members of the Federal Contracts Corp team took a trip to MacDill Air Force Base and Volunteered at the 7th Annual Jackson In Action Youth Camp. This camp is an event hosted by the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation whose mission is to support military families. The foundation focuses on the educational, emotional and physical health of the children of military families as they want military children to be “healthy (physical), happy (emotional), and do well in school (educational).”
The Jackson in Action 83 Foundation and their mission is close to the hearts of the staff of Federal Contracts Corp With our involvement in the military equipment purchasing process and being a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, we feel it is important to give back to the military families who sacrifice so much for this country. The children of military families can feel the stress of military life and deployment just as much as other family members and this can sometimes lead them to make decisions that may negatively affect their health. The Jackson in Action 83 Foundation sets out to counteract and prevent the negative effects of the stress that these children can feel and teaches them to make better decisions when it comes to their physical, emotional and educational health.
The youth camp, held on Friday, June 21st, focused on the physical aspect as the youth spent a morning having fun and taking part in physical activities. Stephanie Collier, Trinity Foster, Megan McCartney, Brent Mayes, and Donny Jeffers of the Federal Contracts Corp team were able to spend the day with the children and help them learn the benefits of physical activity. We enjoyed helping them get out, get active, and reminding them how important physical health is. While it was an especially hot and humid Florida day, we bonded with the youth as they played dodgeball, tug-a-war, had a water balloon toss, and participated in many other summer activities. The children got out a lot of energy, laughed, and played with many of their peers and classmates on the base. It was the definition of a great day and we are so grateful that we could participate and give back to military families. We can’t wait until next year.
